2 lakh devotees witness `Mahamastakabhishek'
BHOPAL, FEB 22:
The Mahamastakabhishek of Bade Baba Bhagwan Adityanath was
witnessed by over two lakh devotees at Kundalpur in Damoh
district. The moments were marked by mantras which were repeated
by the devotees after the high priests of the temple.
The Dhwajarohan ceremony was carried out at the temple where the
Bade Baba idol was placed amidst chanting of hymns.
The ceremony commenced at 8.45 am on Thursday at the remote
village in Damoh district. Lakhs of devotees reaching the village
from distant places of the country witnessed the historic moments
as the temple bell rang for the first time.
The environment turned religious as the crowds in Kundalpur
raised Bade Baba Mahadeo Ki Jai. The ceremony was carried out by
Pandit Abhayji and Pandit Amritlalji, who read the holy Mantras
to perform the ceremony, installing the Lord in the temple.

Brahmi Sundari alankaran to be presented on Feb 21
BHOPAL, FEBRUARY 19:
The prestigious award of Jain community Brahmi Sundari Alankaran
will be given on February 21 at Kundalpur, Damoh on the
auspicious occasion of first Mahamastakabhishek of Lord Adinath.
This year the award will be given to Ms Vimala Jain,
Bhopal (Judiciary), Ms Anita Jain, New Delhi (Music), Dr. Sudha
Kankaria Ahmedabad (Medicine and Dance) and Ms Shanti Sanmati
Kumar Bangalore (Social Work).
Union Minister of State for Textile V Dhananjay Kumar will be the
chief guest of the function which will be presided over by Ashok
Patni of RK Marbles Group, Kishangarh Rajastha. Special guest of
honour include Raja Petria, minister technical education, MP,
Ramkrishna Kushmaria, MP, Jayant Malaiya MLA and Madanlal Bainada
president Mahamastakabhishek committee, Kundalpur.
Founded in the year 2000 Brahmi Sundari Alankaran is given to
those women followers of Jain Dharma who have excelled in their
respective fields and the community as well as the country has
benefitted by their deeds. Last year this award was presented to
Ms Indumati Kadappa Awade (Entrepreneur), Ms Sharan Rani
Bakliwal (Sarod player), Dr Urjita Jain (Medicine), Ms Sunita
Jain (Literature), Ms Preti Tamot (Painting), Ms Sudha
Jain (Politics) and Ms Pallavi Kasliwal (Magician). The award
consists of a citation, shawl and a memento.

The State Government has decided to give 50 percent exemption in motor vehicle tax for the vehicles carrying pilgrims to Shri 1008 Baba Mahamastakabhishek Mahotsav being organised at Kundalpur between February 20 and March 1, 2001.
The Minister for Forest and Transport, Shri Harvansh Singh reviewed the arrangements being made for the transport of pilgrims at a high level meeting, here today. The representatives of Mela Samiti, besides senior officers were present at the meeting. The Minister informed that Madhya Pradesh State Transport Corporation will ply additional 100 buses for Kundalpur during Mahotsav. A rebate of 20 percent will be given for hiring the buses of MPSRTC for Mahotsav. No halting charge will be levied for distances of over 250 km.
Shri Harvansh Singh gave directions to all district transport officers to promptly issue temporary permits to private vehicles for Mahotsav. The Minister said that notification has been issued for granting exemption in motors vehicle tax. The MPSRTC will run more buses if required. There shall be additional arrangements for transportation on the main dates of Mahotsav i.e. 25th & 27th February. The MPSRTC will also run bus service from Damoh railway station for pilgrims coinciding with the arrival of trains. The Minister said that in accordance with the request of Mela Samiti, 6000 bamboos and 5000 ballis have been arranged for Mahotsav. The divisional forest officer of Damoh, present at the meeting was instructed to make arrangements for additional bamboos, ballis and fuel wood.
The Secretary, Transport, Dr. Bhagirath Prasad; on behalf of Mela Samiti, Shri Manoharlal Tongya, Shri Sanat Jain and Shri Ravindra Jain were present. The representatives of Mela Samiti expressed satisfaction over the arrangements being made by the state government for the Mahotsav. Concerning officers of the MPSRTC also attended the meeting.

CM reviews `Mahamastikabhishek Mahotsav' arrangements
BHOPAL, JANUARY 18:
The Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, in connection with
`Mahamastikabhishek Mahotsav' scheduled to take place at
Kundalpur (Damoh) next month, has asked the officials concerned
to ensure all necessary arrangements to avoid any inconvenience
to the people. Acharya Vidhyasagarji would grace the occasion,
informed an official press release.
The chief minister gave these directives at a meeting held at
Vidhansabha on Thursday, while reviewing the arrangements.
Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare, Subhash Kumar
Sojatia, Higher Education minister, Ratnesh Solomon, PHE
minister, Deepak Saxena, Energy minister, Hukum Singh Karada and
minister of state for Manpower Planning, Raja Pateria were
present at the meeting.
The festival at Kundalpur, a religious place of Jain community,
will be organised from February 21 to 27. The chief minister has
assured to provide adequate funds for the festival. Proper
arrangement for drinking water would also be made, he added. He
said that road repairing work should also be ensured well in
time. Proper electricity arrangements should also be made, he
added.
Director General of Police, Subhash Chandra Tripathi and senior
officials of concerned departments were also present at the
meeting.

Digvijay Singh welcomes Jain chariot
BHOPAL, JANUARY 07:
Chief Minister Digvijay Singh reaffirmed the state government's
commitment towards conservation and development of the Jain
pilgrimage at Kundalpur. He was addressing the welcome function
on the occasion of the arrival of the procession, `Dharmarath
Yatra' on its way to Kundalpur here on Sunday.
The procession started from Amarkantak on November 5 and will
reach Kundalpur in the last week of February. On the occasion
sisters of the Vidyasagar ji Maharaj Ms Swarnaji and Ms Shantaji
along with Mayor Ms Vibha Patel and BMC chairman Sunil Sood were
also present.
The Chief Minister said that the state is proud to have
Kundalpur, the ancient spiritual and historical centre as part
of its heritage. The statue of Badebaba provides divine insight
and solace to whoever seeks `Darshan', observed Singh.
The State Government has sought the permission to shift the
statue of Badebaba to the new temple under construction from the
Union archaeology department, informed the Chief Minister.
He further said that he has personally written a letter to the
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to press the demand.
He said that the Amarkantak to Kundalpur procession will augment
the spirit of social harmony and brotherhood in the society. The
Jain community has the divine guidance of Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj
and the state has been benefited by his blessings, stated Singh.
He offered a coconut to the `Dharmarath' to welcome it.
Earlier, Digember Jain Panchayat Committee, chairman, Mahesh
Singhai expressed his gratitudes towards Singh for providing help
to the community programmes. Those who were present on the
occasion includes Ashok Jain Bhabha, Anand Taran, Rameshchandra
Manya and many other prominent figure of the Jain community.

Grand welcome awaits Lord Adinath chariot
BHOPAL, JANUARY 2:
The Jain community would accord a grand welcome to Lord Adinath
chariot procession on its arrival at Bhopal on January 7. The
chariot procession, which is currently underway and will pass
through many districts of the state, is being taken out to mark
completion of 1500 years of a huge idol of Lord Adinath installed
at Kundalpur in Damoh district.
Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and a number of his cabinet
colleagues, Mayor Ms Vibha Patel and other dignitaries are
expected to welcome the procession.
At Bhopal the procession will begin from the Mangalwara Jain
temple premises at 12 noon and pass through all the main
thoroughfares of the city. It would culminate into a religious
meeting at Sawarkar Chowk. Jain Guru Vidhyasagar Maharaj and
Sadhvis Shanta and Swarna would deliver discourses on the
occasion.
With a view to chalking out a strategy for the day a joint
meeting of presidents of various Jain organisations was held on
Tuesday. To ensure smooth conduct of the programme, a 51-member
organising committee was also formed on the occasion.
Ashok Singhai was nominated as president of the committee.
Prominent members of the committee included Ashok Bhandari,
Arvind Supari, Narendra Vandana, Pawan Super, Ravindra Jain,
Sanjay Bantu, Hukumchand Jain, PC Jain, Ramesh Kumar Jain,
Maganlal Jain and Sharad Jain.
It was informed at the meeting that the chariot procession which
was flagged off from Amarkantak the other day, would pass through
various districts of the State. The objective of the procession
is to propagate major events scheduled to take place at Kundalpur
in Damoh district to mark completion of 1500 years of Lord
Adinath idol.
The community members would perform `Mahamastakaabhishek' of the
idol, install `Jin Bimb Pratistha' and organise `Gajrath
Mahotsav'. These rituals would take place between February 21 and
27 at Kundalpur, Damoh.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included
Manoharlal Tongya, Rameshchandra Manya, Vimal Jain, Dinesh Jain,
Pramod Chaudhary, Prasann Kumar Singhai, Pavan Vidrohi, Ajay
Jain, Ashok Jain Bhabha, Anand Taran, Rakesh Singhai, Kamal Jain,
Ajeet Patni, Prof Manoj Jain, Dr PK Jain, Vinod Chaudhary, Vinod
Tadaiya and PC Sethi.
According a separate press release issued by Ramesh Chand Manya,
convenor, organising committee, on Wednesday the chariot
procession would reach Raisen and Silvani. From there it will
proceed for Gairatganj and Begumganj on January 4. On January 5
and 6 it will cover various towns of Sagar district. It will
reach Bhopal on January 7 and on the next day it will proceed for
its onward journey of Sehore, Ashta, Kannod, Khategaon, Khandwa,
Harda, Itarsi and Hoshangabad.
